So I know in the grand world of blogging, when you propose doing a DIY project. You photograph your supplies, and show yourself in the process of doing the project. However, traditional is not how I fly. So what you get here in this little DIY post is a list of what I used and the finished product. I feel that should be sufficient considering how easy this project is.
Supplies:
Starbucks mug with removal insert. They do not make these any longer, but you an still get them online.
Colored glitter... I went girly girl here, but any color will do.
Paint brush
Modge podge
Instructions:
Take out the insert part. Paint the inside of the main tumbler with modge podge. Dump a bunch of glitter in the cup. Shake it around until it is all covered. Let it dry. Voila. Now you have a blinged out Starbucks tumbler. Fun, easy, and adds a little sparkle to your day.
XOXO

Rainbow flowers
Image and DIY via Color me Katie
Let's all make our day a little bit brighter, and create rainbow flowers. What do you say? I always like to have flowers either in the house or more specifically in my office. I think rainbow flowers would make that day even better.
*Cheers, happy Friday*

Sometimes I sew
The other day I decided I do the same shit everyday. I work my ass off for 10 hours in front of a computer, only to turn it off and turn on the television. This is just stupid. There are so many other things that I used to love to do. Crafty type things. So I decided screw TV I am going to make something. I had been wanting to try my hand at these little guys so I did just that.
After taking a good 30 minutes to remember how in the hell to thread my sewing machine, I got to work making my own little fox pillow. Okay so the fabric I chose is a little tripy but try not to stare too long. Isn't he cute?!?! We (by we I mean me and the cat) have named him Marvin and he is hanging out in the guest room ready to welcome whoever comes to visit.
*cheers*

DIY: Cork Trivet
So here is a little easy and fun DIY project. When I say easy I mean 2 steps and $3. However, it might take some time to collect all the wine corks needed to complete this sucker, if you aren't like me and don't already have about a billion wine corks lying around. Hell for the trivet I made I used wine corks from our wedding 2 years ago.
Okay so let's start with supplies. You will need corks, obviously, a flat head screw driver, and an 8-10" metal hose clamp. You can get these thingeys for next to nothing at the hardware store.
Once you have your supplies, arrange your corks until you have as many as will cover the bottom of the size pot you want. put your clamp around and check it out. Do you have a lot of gaps? Probably...now tighten your clamp a little.
See how many holes you have. Now start squeezing in extra corks until you feel all the gaps are filled. Then tighten that clamp till you can't tighten it any more. the surface you are looking at will be uneven, that's cool you are going to flip it over when you are done anyway. Now that you are all tightened up. Flip it over and check out your awesome trivet with wine corks from great moments. Viola!!

Now start drinking more wine so you can collect corks and make this!

Paint Chip Art
A little bit ago, I decided I would take a queue from here and put together a little paint chip art project. So I glued a bunch of them onto a backing and framed it. It was a super easy and fun project. Try it!

DIY: hair bows
I made another great DIY a while back and thought I would share the instructions with you. These are some super cute hair bows I made. Sew easy...yes I did spell that sew since you are going to use your sewing machine...chime eye rolling.
Alright so you need to cut 2 pieces of fabric each 4 by 4. Then sew the 2 together with the pattern on the outside with your sewing machine. I imagine you could do it by hand, but man that sounds like a bitch of a project and whole lot less fun....just saying. Pinch together in the middle and wrap with ribbon, then hot glue the ends (in the back of course). Then just slip a bobby pin into the ribbon and you are good to go. I will warn you however if you don't use a durable fabric then edges will fray. Super easy and super fun. Especially for those scraps you have no idea what to do with.

DIY: Leaf Garland
After seeing this cute tutorial I thought I would make my own leaf garland. I didn't really follow those instructions, just kind of used them as inspiration.
If you want to make my leaf garland, just follow these easy steps. Cut the leaves from felt. Sew them together with your sewing machine. Add some extra leaves on to random ones you already sewed together so it looks like more leaves combined together. Tie buttons at the ends and call it a day.
Make sure to hang it somewhere you get to see it often. This is my bedroom, it adds that little bit of fall to every morning.
Happy Tuesday folks.

Cross stitch
I finished this one last year, it sits in my living room and I love it dearly.
Cross stitching is great fun, now you may be thinking Emily just went all old lady on me. If you are a blogger you may think AWESOME, if not, you probably think what the jack is cross stitch you old hag?!?!?
Hear me out...I can remember being a kid and watching my mom cross stitch while we watched old movies together. She always had this thing that went over the sofa arm to hold her needles and thread, I used to sit down and rest my arm right on it only to curse my mothers name for leaving that stupid piece of junk on the sofa. Now I have one of those stupid pieces of junk on my sofa. Well not only do I love to cross stitch and watch old movies just like my mother (don't know when that snuck up on me) but now I can even do some of the killer patterns she did in these great 70s pattern books. The best part is seeing her initials and year next to the ones she completed. I plan to slap my initials next to some of them too.
*my mother had hoped to finish that Welcome to our nest cross stitch for my grandmother before she died. Unfortunately, my grand mother the greatest woman to ever live died before my mom was able to. So I made it...for both of them.

Painting
I used to paint when I was in college. I took one class and fell madly in love. There's a painting over our sofa that I did and one over the bed in the guest room that has a saying my dad said at our wedding. I love that one the most I think. So last night I busted out the paints and went to town.
I know you all are loving my outfit here. I wasn't going to wear anything nice while using acrylic paint, it doesn't come out!! Notice the apron...a necessity I think.
Those are 3 of my favorite colors, but I love the ones below too. I know if I have the primaries I can mix any color, but sometimes I just like the pre made color.
The finished product. We live in Virginia and I love it so. Virginia is where we first lived together, where we got engaged, and married. It will hopefully continue to be a place where we start a family and grow old together. See the heart...that is Richmond where we live. Pretty cute huh!?!? It's going to go in our dining room so I see it on my way for coffee every morning.
