I started sharing books here so I could share books I love with you all and pass around great authors, but in this instance I am sharing a poor review. I started reading the Sookie Stackhouse novels a few years ago and loved them in the beginning. However, this is the 12th installment of this series and let's just say that Charlaine must be running out of material.
This thing dragged on and on and on. There was a point when I just thought it can't get any worse, and then she kept beating this dead horse. I finally had to shelf the stupid thing and walk away. I am saddened by this. Since I have so enjoyed her books in the past. Although I could understand if she is just plain bored with Sookie. I mean how much can really happen?!?! So it saddens me to advise you to steer clear of this Sookie book and move on . It's time to find a new vampire love story...maybe even something without vampires. I mean, I can't be alone in being so over vampire stories I am in Canada...

JA love
Dear readers, I'm still here. Thanks for asking.....wait you didn't. Jerks!! Either way I am still blogging. There have just been some crazy developments in my life lately. Work has gotten a little crazy, and then there is the book series that has currently sucked me in. It is by far the best smut novel I have ever read. Yes smut people, but I am not even sure that is the right category. So maybe I will call it slightly trashy romance. Maybe you have heard of it.... Fifty Shades of Grey.
With all that said, it brings to light my love for Jonathan Adler, since that purple thing in the picture above is my nook and my chubby fingered hands have been wrapped around that thing constantly since discovering this book series. I will just say this, I am here but busy. More fun posts to come next week.

Bookshelf: Neverwhere
Good books are like old friends. When you find one that just gets you it's impossible to put it down. That's how I felt about Neverwhere. I read this book a little bit ago, but loved it dearly! Did you ever read or see the movie Stardust? It's written by the same author.
The story centers around Richard Mayhew. A nice guy who stops to help a girl bleeding in the street. The girl is Door and Door is being chased by assassins. He assists her and then she is gone. After helping the girl Richard discovers that he has become invisible and soon loses his job and his home.
He travels to the London underground in search of Door to figure out how to put his life back in order. Only to discover that maybe life isn't better the way it was.
This is the type of book that I am always searching for. Okay I will admit it... I love Sci Fi novels/shows/books. I mean I am not going to Comic-Con and I don't own a Darth Vader helmet, I am not that extreme. I just think Sci Fi stuff (specifically novels) can be such a great escape from reality.

Bookshelf: Hunger Games
Well folks if you haven't heard of these books you have to have been living under a rock. This set of what they are calling teen novels is amazing. I wouldn't consider them teen novels at all. Okay so there is some teenage relationship drama/angst but that's about as teen as it gets.
So just a quick run down for those of you haven't seen the trailer yet and really want to read the books before seeing the movie. Because well let's be honest the books are always better...right?!?! RIGHT!
Main character is Katniss Everdeen, she is living in a post apocalyptic America that is now called Panem. Panem is run by the Capitol and split up into 12 districts. Each year or every 4 years or something of that nature they have "the hunger games" where kids ranging from 12 - 18 (2 from each district) have to battle to the death in a man made arena. Intrigued yet??
Let's just say this book was nothing and everything I thought it was going to be. There are star crossed lovers, lover quarrels, bugs, birds, arrows, guns, bombs, mutts of all nature and kind. There are lots of drugs and almost death scenes. It was a powerful set of 3 books that really shows off the strength of human nature and what people will do for the ones they love.
I give these books a big set of Emway thumbs up!

Bookshelf: The Night Circus
"The circus arrives without warning. It is simply there, when yesterday it was not."
That is the first line of this book. It is just divine. There are so many twist and turns and looks and miss steps. Filled with wondering and questioning and did that really happens. It makes you remember that just because we are adults we don't have to lose our imaginations. The woman who wrote this, Erin, must come from some mysterious magical home or planet where imaginations run wild. She creates an entire world in black and white striped tents and backward glances. This book is set back in the day, and I wish I could go back in time and visit this circus.
Read this book. Get lost in your mind and the ideas that this woman creates and enjoy it all. Then let's all write a letter to Tim Burton requesting that he make this book into a movie because I think it could be the most creative movie ever made.
